Directions on how to use the Blue Jay Wooden Transfer Board

1. Lift the patient’s inside leg and slide the transfer board under the upper thigh and bottom.
2. Use an angle motion to push the end of the board into the seat, making sure that you do not pinch the patient’s skin.
3. Make sure that the end of the board is securely placed under the thigh and bottom of the patient and that the other end is securely placed into the transfer location.
4. Make sure the patient’s feet are ahead or slightly tilted away from the transfer location. Have your patient lean away from the transfer surface, place your hands on his hips and work together to coordinate your movements.
5. Assist your patient carefully and slowly in moving across the board making sure that he/she transfers safely without their skin getting pinched or rubbed. Make sure the patient’s body parts are in the correct position and are comfortably seated at the transfer location.
6. Remove the wooden transfer board carefully.

To clean, wipe with dry/ damp cloth and dry completely. Prevent water and moisture from getting in contact with the wooden board.
