Directions on how to use the Carex UpEasy Seat Assist

When you’re ready to stand up, slide forward on the chair slightly so that your body weight is positioned toward the front edge of the seat. To activate the lift assistance, use your arms to push down on the armrest of the chair, and as the device gently lifts, assist it by using your leg muscle to stand up at a comfortable pace.

Safety Precautions

1. Make sure you have something to hold on to when getting up. The Uplift Seat Assist is designed for use on chairs with arms that offer a suitably stable seating surface. Using the Uplift on soft chairs, sofas or couches is usually O.K. Uplift is not recommended for use in wheelchairs, automobiles, La-Z-Boy chairs, or office chairs with non-lockable wheels
2. Always make sure that the chair the Uplift is to be used on will not slide on the floor. When in doubt, place the chair with its back against a wall or other fixed object.
3. When bending over to pick something up, do not put any weight on your feet – otherwise, the Uplift will start to activate.

Adjusting Weight Settings

1. Stand Uplift on the end opposite the handle
2. Unhook the hook and loop strap around the handle to open the Uplift
3. Push down on the upholstered part of the seat surface, causing it to flex outward. This allows the piston to swing free.
4. Select a weight setting. Center the piston pin between the two grooves for the user’s appropriate weight setting. Make sure it is fitted securely in the center of the weight slots.
