Directions on how to install the Drive Medical 2-in-1 Locking Raised Toilet Seat
- Remove all parts from the package. READ and UNDERSTAND all instructions before installing the toilet seat.
- Install the arms on the seat by depressing push pins on the arms and inserting them into the mounting tubes. Make sure the push pins fully protruded through the holes of the mounting tubes. Pull the arms to ensure they are locked in place. To remove arms, reverse these steps.
- Lift the existing toilet lid and seat. Position the raised toilet seat above the bowl with the rear wings of the toilet seat around the rim of the toilet (note: some toilet seats would require the removal of the existing toilet seat to allow the raised seat’s proper fit). The front adjustment bracket must clear the rim for the raised toilet seat to securely fit.
- As necessary, straighten and center the raised toilet seat over the toilet bowl. Turn the adjusting knob in a clockwise direction to securely tighten the seat. Do not use tools and be careful not to over-tighten as doing so could strip the threads on the adjustment bracket.
- Routinely check for secure fit before every use. When sitting, make sure to center your weight over the toilet seat, not too far forward nor too far to one side to prevent the device from tipping.
- To remove the product, rotate the knob counterclockwise until the seat becomes loose. Lift the front and pull forward to move.
- Do not use this raised toilet seat if the style of your commode does not allow the product from fitting properly or if it does not tighten securely.
Care Instructions
- Use warm water and non-abrasive detergent or cleaner to wash the product.
- Rinse properly and wipe dry.
Caution
- Before every use, make sure the toilet seat riser is correctly and securely locked into place.
- Make sure that the adjustment knob is tight all the time to secure the toilet seat.
- Individuals with physical limitations should be assisted or supervised when using the toilet.
- This toilet seat raiser is designed to fit specific types of commodes. Do not use it if it does not fit your commode.
- The arms are designed only to assist when getting on and off the toilet seat. DO NOT use the arms to support full body weight when transferring as it could cause failure and an accident.

How to Choose Raised Toilet Seat Guide.
What is the purpose of a raised toilet seat?
A raised toilet seat provides a safer environment
by helping prevent falls in the bathroom. The
seat raises the height of the toilet to a more
comfortable level, making it easier to sit down
and stand up. It also decreases the space
between the user and the toilet to help alleviate
any burden placed on the hips and knees.
Which disabilities can a raised toilet seat be used for?
- Conditions that make it difficult to bend over or sit down (joint pain, arthritis, bariatric, etc.).
- Recovery following surgery, usually following hip surgery.
- Conditions that make it difficult to balance (osteoporosis, weak muscles, etc.).
What is the best way to measure for a raised toilet seat?
Using a tape measure, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee for a raised toilet seat in a bathroom. From the floor up, measure the height of the toilet seat. Height will be determined by the difference between these two numbers. It’s vital to measure the width of your hips. Having adequate width is vital if you are selecting a raised toilet seat riser with arms.
What kind of raised toilet seat do I need?
To determine the best-raised seat for you, follow these steps:
Step 1: Determine the height needed.
- Measure the length of your lower back leg and add 2 inches. For example, if your lower back leg measures 19″, you will calculate the height as 19″ + 2″ = 21″.
- Measure the height of your toilet bowl and be sure not to include the seat and lid. For example 17″.
- Calculate the difference. In this example, it will be calculated as 21″ – 17″ = 4″. Therefore, you need a 4″ raised toilet seat! Note: If you calculate an odd number, round it up!
Step 2: Determine the shape of your toilet.
Toilets come in 2 different shapes
- Standard Round
- Elongated
To ensure you are correctly measuring your toilet bowl, measure from the center front to the center of the mounting holes.
Step 3: Determine which installation type is right for you.
- If you want the least secure fit, choose a raised toilet seat with a non-locking mechanism or locking with a knob mechanism.
- If you want a secure fit, choose a raised toilet seat with a locking mechanism (with tightening clamps) or bolted riser.
Note: If other family members share the bathroom, consider choosing an easily removable option. A riser will allow you to continue using your existing seat and lid.
Step 4: Determine which features are essential to you.
- Lid vs. No Lid.
- Hinge vs. No Hinge (Allows for easy cleaning).
- Armrests vs. No Armrests (Armrests aid transfer on and off the unit). Note the distance from your toilet to the wall when considering armrests.
- Contoured (Savannah) Style. The front of the unit contours gently downward, making getting on and off of the raised toilet seat easier. Both the front and back feature openings for ease of accessibility to take care of personal cleansing.
Safety Considerations:
- Be sure to center your weight.
- Routinely check for secure fit before using the product.
- Use arm supports only for assistance. Do not use arm supports to support your full body weight.
- Toilet Safety Frames
- Grab Bars
- Toilet Safety Rails
