Directions on how to use the ADC Adtemp 418N Digital Thermometer

1. Before usage, ensure that you disinfect the probe with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.
2. To check if the unit is functioning correctly, press and release the multifunction button. You will hear a short beep, and then all segments will briefly display (as shown in Figure 1). The display will have a red backlight for 0.5 seconds, followed by a green backlight for 0.5 seconds.
3. After the function check, the display will show the last recorded temperature memory with either a red or green backlight (depending on the temperature) for 3 seconds. When you see the scrolling dash symbol ” – ” on the display, you can begin the temperature measurement.
4. When the measurement is complete, you will hear a long beep lasting 1 second. If the temperature reading falls between 89.6°F (34°C) to 99.3°F (37.4°C), you will see a green backlight. For temperatures between 99.5°F (37.5°C) to 109.2°F (42.9°C), you will hear four beeps and observe a red backlight. If the temperature exceeds 109.2°F (42.9°C), you will hear two beeps, see the “H” icon, experience a red backlight, and hear four additional beeps.
5. The temperature reading will be automatically stored in memory. However, it is recommended that you manually record the temperature and time for your reference.
6. The device will automatically power off after approximately 5 minutes of inactivity. To conserve battery life, you can manually turn off the device by pressing the multifunction button.

Care Instructions

After use, clean the thermometer and store it in its case. Clean the unit by wiping it with a dry cloth and disinfecting the probe with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Refer to the cleaning instructions for more details.

• Before use, allow the thermometer to naturally reach room temperature. Performance may be affected if used or stored outside the specified temperature and humidity ranges or when the patient’s temperature is below the ambient room temperature.

• Do not boil, bite, bend, drop, or disassemble the thermometer.
• Only open the unit when replacing the battery. Do not attempt to open it for any other reason.
