Directions on how to install the Drive Medical White Powder-Coated Grab Bar

NOTE: The grab bar’s flanges must be aligned with the wall studs. The wood screws must go through the wallboard/tile and attach to the wall studs for stable support. For plastic tubs and shower enclosures, drill through the wall and install the grab bar to the wall studs.

1. Position the grab bar on the wall in line with the wall studs then mark the location of the screw holes. Once the type of attachment is decided, drill a small hole to confirm the location of the stud. (You should only use wood screws in wooded wall studs)
2. Determine whether to use wood screws or toggle bolts for each flange. (At least 2 wood screws must be attached for each flange or the grab bar might pull out and result in a serious injury)
3. Drill through the tile or grout. If you are using wood screws, drill a small pilot hole into the wall studs.
4. Once holes are drilled, place the grab bar on the wall and attach it with screws. If you are using toggle bolts, make sure that the bolt is attached to the flange before forcing it into the hole.

NOTE: Use caulking around the flanges to prevent moisture from penetrating.

5. Tighten the screws or bolts with a screwdriver. Test for tightness.

Clean with mild soap and rinse with water. Wipe off excess water and keep dry when not in use to prevent rusting.
