Directions on how to use the TempaDOT Disposable Clinical Thermometers:

Oral Use:

1. Begin by opening the package and folding it along the perforation. Carefully tear off a single thermometer strip. Gently peel back the upper part of the wrapper and extract the thermometer by pulling on the exposed handle.
2. Introduce the thermometer into the patient’s mouth, positioning it beneath the tongue and pushing it as far back as possible into one of the side heat pockets, similar to the placement of a standard oral thermometer. The dots on the thermometer can be oriented in either an upward or downward direction. Important: Make sure to wait for a minimum of 15 minutes after eating, drinking or smoking before using the thermometer.
3. Ask the patient to press down their tongue onto the thermometer while maintaining their mouth closed for 1 minute.
4. Afterward, carefully remove the thermometer and proceed to read the temperature. The final blue dot on the matrix signifies the accurate temperature for TempaDOT thermometers.
5. The temperature reading will become permanently locked after this period. Once you have obtained and documented the temperature, discard the thermometer appropriately.

Axillary Use:

1. Begin by opening the package and folding it along the perforation. Carefully tear off a single thermometer strip. Gently peel back the upper part of the wrapper and extract the thermometer by pulling on the exposed handle.
2. Insert the thermometer into the patient’s underarm, high in the axilla. Make sure the dot matrix is placed towards the patient’s body touching the torso, and not the inside of the arm.
3. Ask the patient to close their arm to maintain the position of the thermometer for 3 minutes.
4. Afterward, remove the thermometer and proceed to read the result. The final blue dot on the matrix signifies the accurate temperature for TempaDOT thermometers.
5. The temperature reading will become permanently locked after this period. Once you have obtained and documented the temperature, discard the thermometer appropriately.

Rectal Use:

1. Begin by opening the package and removing on thermometer and sheath from the box.
2. Insert the thermometer into the sheath and lubricate it before inserting it into the patient’s rectum. Stop once the dot matrix and numbers are completely covered.
3. Maintain the thermometer’s position for 3 minutes before removing it from the rectum (immediately discard the sheath after removal)
4. The final blue dot on the matrix signifies the accurate temperature for TempaDOT thermometers.
5. The temperature reading will become permanently locked after this period. Once you have obtained and documented the temperature, discard the thermometer appropriately.
